Principal - Miss Dodie Wilson
Miss Dodie has been dancing since she was 4 years old, and trained at the Pat-Lyn Dance Academy. This studio ran in Auburn for over 35 years, which in 2007 was purchased by Miss Dodie. It was in February 2008 that Miss Dodie closed Pat-Lyn Dance and opened under the name of DW Dance Academy in April of 2008 at the wonderful Chester Hill Community centre.
After completing her full teaching certificates in Ballet, Tap and Hip Hop in 2008 and after 28 years of dancing at Eisteddfods, performing in shows, exams in EDTA, LGTDA, BDA and BBO syllabi, Professionally dancing with Monica and the Moocha's and her years of teaching experience, Miss Dodie is proud to pass on her knowledge and her passion for dance to her students at DW Dance.
Miss Dodie takes most of the classical ballet and tap exam classes as well as private classes, the ladies class, Showgroup and most competition classes. Miss Dodie is also a fully qualified senior first aid officer.
In 2008 Miss Dodie also started to adjudicate professionally at dance eisteddfods, and has been booked for over 10 eisteddfods, over the last 18 months.
Student
Teacher - Miss Katherine.
Miss Katherine currently teaches our stretch class, Acrobats class, Junior exam jazz, Intermediate Freestyle Hip Hop, Tiny tots hour and helps Miss Dodie with other teaching when needed.
Miss Katherine also started dancing with Pat-Lyn Dance Academy and has been dancing for 14 years and chose to come to DW Dance Academy when opened by Miss Dodie. Through DW Dance Academy, Miss Katherine has successfully passed her student teaching certificate in both Classical ballet and tap in 2008 and will sit both full teaching certificates for classical ballet and tap in early 2010. Having sat her HSC in 2009 with incredibly high marks she is currently looking forward to Uni. With a fantastic result at the BDA Eisteddfod in 2009, Miss Katherine is certainly gaining all the experience she needs to continue teaching dance at DW Dance Academy.
Student Teacher - Miss Ruth.
Miss Ruth currently teaches our Intermediate exam Jazz class, Intermediate exam Hip Hop class, Intermediate Freestyle tap class, and helps Miss Dodie with other teaching when needed.
Miss Ruth again, started dancing with Pat-Lyn Dance Academy and has been dancing for 14 years and chose to come to DW Dance Academy when opened by Miss Dodie. Through DW Dance Academy, Miss Ruth will be sitting her student teaching certificate in both Jazz and tap in 2010. Having sat her HSC in 2009 with really good marks she is currently looking forward to Uni. With a fantastic result at the BDA Eisteddfod this year with 2 First placings and a Highly Commended, Miss Ruth is well on her way to gaining all the experience she needs to continue teaching dance at DW Dance Academy.
